New elephant born!

I had a family of three guests, John, Roisin and Aoifa from Ireland on drive with me for three nights. The one thing I was eager to show them was the herd of elephants on the RiverBend concession. We had no luck at all, searching for three days to no avail!! Roisin had told me that her favorite animal is an elephant, so I knew I had to find them. On the last morning of their stay we located a herd of about 50 elephants who were behaving very strangely. The herd seemed almost protective. I had made an assumption that maybe there was a new addition to the herd and proceeded right to the front of the walking elephants. I couldn’t believe my eyes... there in front of us was a newborn elephant calf that couldn’t have been more than 2 or 3 days old! Still unstable on its feet, pink behind the ears and around the eyes this little miracle without a doubt, made everybody’s day.  And what better way to end a stay.
