good afternoon from a windy eastern cape.
i have just recently finished with a trio of guests that were serious rhino enthusiasts!
i always enjoy this type of thing because its always incredible to see a black rhino!
we did a total of 4 drives and had some of the most awesome game viewing, including elephant, buffalo, lion and the always entertaining meerkats! it was on the second last drive that we got to spend some time with a black rhino, not even 25 meters from the vehicle i might add. we had stopped to remove some spikethorn branches out of the road when we heard a crunching of branches coming from the valley below us. we decided to sit and wait patiently to see what would appear on the rise of the ridge. after a few minutes, there it was...a big male black rhinoceros! he even graced us with a few vocalisations! only a couple of minutes later did he realise that we were there and decided to tear off into the opposite valley, snorting as loud as he could.
what an amazing sighting.
